Mt. Hood Community College's Integrated Media Program

Integrated Media is a new Associate of Applied Science degree program that leverages decades of faculty experience, state of the art facilities, and the emerging emphasis on digital media for the Creative Services industry. The Integrated Media Program features a shared core of digital skills across the disciplines of Digital Photography, Graphic Design, Broadcasting and Video.

MHCC’S Integrated Media Program is a unique opportunity for you to explore a broad-based digital media training. The creative industry is being pressed to do more, and do it faster — and more effectively. Employees with broad digital skills are in high demand in the Portland Metro area. Classes are small, focused and rigorous. Students move quickly through the course progression, each term building on the skills gained in the previous term.

This collection of web pages was produced in IM179: Digital Tools and Workflow, where all 80 first year IM students contribute assets (graphics, photos, audio recordings, video clips) to a shared network storage area for the class. Then, they each produce a unique 5-page web design using the these elements. This particular solution is by Jason Miller, a Digital Photography major.

Because we recognize that computer technology skills are very important for seeking employment in today's market, the MHCC Integrated Media program trains to the industry standard Adobe Creative Suite software: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat; Apples Pro applications: Final Cut Pro, Final Draft, DVD Studio Pro, and other premiere applications such as ProTools. We have six production and teaching labs equipped with the latest Macintosh computers and software. We collaborate closely with students in each of the option areas to broaden our training in digital media to incorporate graphics, audio, video and still images in our student projects.
