The Apple Authorized Training Center at MHCC is one of a handful in the Pacific Northwest and the only one offering Final Cut Pro Certification training in the Portland metro area. Apple's Training Centers are carefully selected to meet the highest standards in all areas, including faculty, course delivery and infrastructure. By gaining authorization from Apple for this center, MHCC's Integrated Media department can offer high-quality training to all segments of the creative services industry. Apple Certified Trainer25 new Intel iMacs are fully loaded with Apple Final Cut Studio, Lightroom 2.0, Digidesign's ProTools and the Adobe Creative Suite 4. MHCC offers short-term training to industry professionals, software certification to Integrated Media students and introductory classes to the public.

FCP 100 - An overview of Final Cut Pro

This two-day hands-on course introduces students to the primary feature set and basic interface of Final Cut Pro. In this course you learn to perform basic editing functions while familiarizing yourself with the user interface. Topics include basic setup, adjusting and customizing preferences and settings, capturing video and audio, various editing and trimming techniques, ripple, roll, slip and slide tools, audio editing and audio creation, finishing and final output.

FCP 101 - An Introduction to Final Cut Pro 7

This four-day, hands-on course teaches students to perform basic editing functions while becoming familiar with the Final Cut Pro user interface. In this course, you will cut a scene from the TNT television series Leverage, create a promo for Seaworld's Believe documentary, as well as master filters and effects as you edit a segment of Playing for Change, the international music-creation event.

Start with basic video editing techniques and work all the way through Final Cut Pro's powerful advanced features. Learn to mark and edit clips, mix sound, add titles, create transitions, apply filters, and more. Topics include basic setup, customizing preferences and settings, capturing video and audio, various editing and trimming techniques, Ripple, Roll, Slip, and Slide tools, audio editing and audio creation, finishing and final output. This class is designed for anyone looking to edit professional-quality video with Final Cut Pro and who prefers hands-on and interactive instruction to best explore its functionality. Students can take an end user exam to earn Apple Certified Pro. Final Cut Pro Level One status

Students should have the following prerequisite knowledge prior to attending the course: Knowledge of Mac OS X and basic computer navigation and basic knowledge of non-linear editing terminology is recommended.
