BROADCASTING option
JD Kiggins

JD manages the Broadcasting program and teaches many of the classes. This fall, he will collaborate with other Integrated Media faculty to teach IM178: Sound Frame Light; ART279:Integrated Media Survey, IM179: Digital Tools and Workflow and IM260: Professional Practice in Integrated Media. He brings extensive experience in sound recording, digital audio production, producing and editing having worked in many capacities in the film and broadcasting industries. A graduate of Montana State University, his degree is in film and theatre arts. He most recently was a partner at Blue Dog Recording in Portland where he edited film and video for edits and designs sound for pictures and provides sound engineering for both music and radio clients. JD has worked on a broad range of projects; and for clients ranging from Nike and Infocus to musicians such as Leroy Vinnegar and Jerry Hahn. In addition to instructing the digital audio production classes that feature Digidesign's ProTools software, JD serves as Club Advisor for the student radio station, X-58.

GRAPHIC DESIGN option
Chris Maier

Chris earned a BFA in Graphic Design from Arizona State University. Her graduate studies have been at the University of Kansas and Kent State University in Ohio. Previous teaching experience comes from appointments at the University of Kansas and the University of Arizona before coming to MHCC in 1988. Her professional design experience was as an editorial designer for magazines in the Midwest as well as Arizona. She served as the publication designer for the University of Kansas. In Tucson, Arizona, she owned White Space Studio, a design company that specialized in annual reports, magazine design and periodical re-designs. She has continued to freelance since moving to the Northwest. This year she will teach IM178: Sound Frame Light; IM179: Digital Tools and Workflow, IM260: Professional Practice in Integrated Media; GD 236: Portfolio, GD 246: Digital Publication Design; GD249: Graphic Design Practicum and ART 279: Integrated Media Survey.

Jack Schommer

Jack Schommer grew up in northwest Montana, he received a BS in motion picture production from Montana State University, and worked the next 12 years in that state's television industry. He produced daily news casts for the Eagle Communication network and also managed a production department for the Montana Television Network's affiliate, KPAX-TV in Missoula. In 1987 as a member of the Missoula City Council he helped negotiate that city's first cable franchise which also established its first community TV center. He moved to Gresham in 1988 to oversee the Community Television Grant, teach in and coordinate the Community TV program at Mt. Hood Community College. He has been the lead instructor and coordinator for the Television Production Technology Program since 1997. His production work has been honored with state, regional and national awards. Jack is a certified Apple Pro trainer. He will teach ART279, TV150, IM178 and IM260 this fall as well as most of the new first year Video courses.
